The Health and Safety Specialist will be responsible for promoting a safe and healthy work environment by implementing and maintaining comprehensive health and safety programs and procedures.
The successful candidate will ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations and actively participate in the development and implementation of health and safety policies and initiatives.
The right applicant will be able to decipher and explain company policies to employees, while being detail-oriented, trustworthy, dependable and self-motivated.
Responsibilities:
1.
Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
2.
Collaborate with management and employees to identify potential workplace hazards and develop strategies to minimize risks.
3.
Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify unsafe conditions, hazards, and practices.
Recommend and implement corrective actions as required.
4.
Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on health and safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
5.
Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses to identify root causes and develop preventive measures.
6.
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to health and safety activities, including incident reports, safety data sheets, training records, facility permits and safety committee minutes.
7.
Stay up-to-date with current industry standards, best practices, and emerging trends in health and safety, and effectively communicate changes to the organization.
8.
Collaborate with various departments, including operations, facilities, and HR, to ensure health and safety standards are consistently met and maintained.
9.
Serve as a knowledgeable resource for employees regarding health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
10.
Provide guidance and support in the selection, evaluation, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety devices.
11.
Participate in emergency response planning, drills, and simulations to test the effectiveness of health and safety protocols.
12.
Assist in the development and implementation of emergency evacuation plans and first aid programs.
