Academic Assistant, College of Arts and Sciences

StaffDescription of Key Responsibility:
1.
Exercise leadership in supporting and implementing the goals and objectives of the College of Arts and Sciences through administration and organizational functions.
Prioritize responsibilities within a high?volume work area.
2.
Provide administrative support for the Department Chairpersons of Art and Design; English; History; and Modern and Classical Languages; the faculty within each department (including supporting them in their roles as faculty governance leaders); the Director of the Writing Center; and the Director of the Language Resource Center.
3.
Maintain school/college files, including personnel, faculty evaluation, faculty governance, course syllabi, and budgets.
Schedule appointments for faculty who are due to have a review; serve as liaison with the College of Arts & Sciences Administrative Assistant and the Office of Academic Affairs.
4.
Confer with department chairs regarding staffing of courses; prepare requests for contracts; complete stipend payments; contact students regarding changes and cancellation of courses.
Input and proof data in Excel for annual academic course schedule for the departments.
5.
Coordinate campus interview itineraries, travel arrangements, and expense report reimbursements.
Complete required paperwork to set up new faculty with office space, computer, phone, email, voicemail, keys, and parking sticker; orientate new employees to buildings and campus.
6.
Oversee building needs and interact with housekeeping and maintenance staff to meet those needs; coordinate office moves; maintain adequate supply of office supplies.
Collect, sort, and distribute mail for the departmental faculty.
7.
Supervise assigned student worker(s)/graduate assistants; recruit, complete HR paperwork; ensure adequate training; schedule and assign work; monitor performance; and provide appropriate mentoring.
8.
Maintain departmental websites and other online forms of communication (i.
e.
, social media).
9.
Provide administrative support for external accreditation requirements including assisting in submitting required reports, coordinating and tracking all needed actions related to assessment plans for accreditation, maintaining a system of documentation of accreditation activities and processes, and working with offices and departments across campus to obtain necessary data.
10.
Other duties and responsibilities as appropriately assigned.

Education/Training:
An associates degree or equivalent work experience is required.
Experience:
A minimum of two (2) years in an administrative support role required.

Summary:
To provide administrative assistance and related support to the operations and services of the following departments within the College of Arts and Sciences:
Art and Design; English; History; and Modern and Classical Languages.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
