Food Scientist - Bakery, Snack Foods, Extrusion Applications

Our client is a top notch international multi-billion dollar food ingredient producer. We are looking to hire an accomplished food scientist to work at our brand new state-of-the-art R&D facility in the Western Chicago suburbs, near Naperville and Aurora.
Job Description
This position will be instrumental for developing technical and innovative solutions to internal and external customers in the human nutrition market. The successful candidate will be required to have demonstrated expertise and core competency in one or more areas: cereal, snack applications, extrusion. Excellent communications skills, leadership, and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment, both internal and external, are required. Regular direct customer interaction and overnight travel (up to 15%) can be expected throughout North America.
Key Responsibilities
Works on developing solutions to support cereal, snack and extrusion customer projects by conducting application study requests
Researches and formulates new application recipes and prototypes for new product launch and promotion
Identify and develop new business growth opportunities through innovation and collaboration
Meet individual financial, customer support and innovation goals
Coordinate and collaborate with Sales and Marketing for prioritizing and executing defined key projects.
Provide technical training to the Sales and Marketing teams, distributors, and customers.
Qualifications
MS in Food Science, Engineering, Chemistry or related field; PhD preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience in food applications
Minimum 3 years technical experience in cereal, snack, or extrusion
Working experience in starch and starch derivatives
Demonstrates understanding and ability for customer focus and innovation
Demonstrates strong internal and external, verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrates ability to understand a wide variety of product and process technologies
Demonstrates outstanding interpersonal and team work skills at all levels and with customer organizations
French and/or Spanish language skills are a plus.
